A violent crash left several people hurt in Midwood Thursday.
Police say a total of seven people were hurt, but none of their injuries appear to be life threatening, after an MTA bus crash at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Avenue J.
It happened around 11:30 p.m., where officials say the driver of an SUV smashed into an MTA bus, causing the bus to hit a light pole.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, as well as six people on board the bus.
News 12 is told investigators are looking into the possibility that the driver of the SUV may have ran a red light.
The MTA told News 12 in a statement, “Around 11:30 p.m. last night, an in service BM1 bus travelling through a green light at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Avenue J in Brooklyn, was struck by an automobile. The cause of this accident is under investigation. The bus operator and five customers on board the bus were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. Our thoughts are with our bus operator and our customers, and we wish them a speedy recovery.”
The investigation is ongoing.
