Advocates for homeless people joined together Friday in Brooklyn Heights to protest the mayor's affordable housing plan.
Protesters say Mayor Bill de Blasio's Housing New York 2.0 plan creates twice as many units for households who can afford rent above $2,500 than it does for the homeless.
They say 40 newly constructed units at 15 Bridge Park Drive are anything but affordable and only 5% out of a total of 300,000 units drafted in the plan are for the homeless population.
Activists proposed a new plan that would include 30,000 affordable apartments for the homeless, with 24,000 of them newly constructed.
