2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in Fort Greene apartment

FORT GREENE -

Police say two people were found dead inside a Fort Greene apartment in an apparent murder-suicide.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday inside an apartment at 7 Clermont Ave.

Police say someone called 911 after hearing screams. Arriving officers say they found 44-year-old Naire McCormick and 47-year-old Jancy Dempster with gunshot wounds to the head inside the bedroom. News 12 is told they are believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend.

Police found McCormick with a gunshot wound to the head. Police say Dempster was also found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

News 12 is told Dempster shot McCormick before turning the gun on himself. Friends describe McCormick as sweet and outgoing.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, according to officials.
