Police: 60-year-old man found dead on stoop outside Crown Heights apartment

Posted: Updated:
Police say an investigation is underway after a 60-year-old man was found dead on a stoop outside of a Crown Heights apartment early Tuesday morning.

Police say surveillance video shows what appears to be two men, one of them in a wheelchair, engaged in some type of dispute on the corner of Schenectady and Lincoln Place.

They say it appears the man in the wheelchair then attacked the victim, who is later is seen walking back down the block and falling back on a stoop where he was found dead.

News 12 spoke with people in the area who say the man in the wheelchair is well known and is no stranger to picking fights with other people.

Officials say the 60-year-old man suffered trauma to the head and face. Police say they have not yet deemed the incident as a homicide and will wait for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The man was found dead right down the block from an elementary school, just before 5 a.m., mere hours before classes begin.

Police are looking for the man in the wheelchair for questioning.

Police have not released the identity of the 60-year-old victim.
