Woman killed in possible murder-suicide honored at prayer service in Red Hook

A Brooklyn woman who was killed in a possible murder-suicide was remembered with a prayer service Wednesday night.
Naire McCormick, 44, was a friend to many in her community, as well as a daughter, sister, aunt and mother to a 13-year-old.
Police say McCormick was shot and killed late Sunday night. She was found in her Fort Greene apartment along with her boyfriend Jancy Dempster. Investigators believe Dempster killed her before turning the gun on himself.
McCormick was a longtime school safety agent who also followed her passion of doing hair.
Loved ones held the service at Cavalry Baptist Church in Red Hook Wednesday night. They will continue to honor her memory with a candlelight vigil Friday.
