Brooklyn man convicted in gruesome 2016 murder of Manhattan chef

A Brooklyn man was convicted Friday in the gruesome 2016 murder of a Manhattan chef.
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced that Jahkeem Scott, 21, was convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree arson and first-degree burglary.
Scott was charged in the 2016 death of Romulo Heras, 61, a chef at Cornelia Street Cafe in Greenwich Village.
The DA says Scott entered the chef's home in Cypress Hills through a window while Heras was asleep, attempting to commit a burglary before stabbing him 31 times.
Scott later set six separate fires to Heras' apartment to cover it up, prosecutors said. Scott faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
