Great Irish Fair draws hundreds to Coney Island

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of people were expected in Coney Island Saturday for the 38th annual Great Irish Fair.

The event started at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass and award ceremony to honor community members who have made an impact in New York. Many of those honored were members of the NYPD and FDNY.

The festival, which took place at the Ford Amphitheatre, included food, traditional music and dancing. Vendors were also selling Irish goods.

Organizers tell News 12 it is an event that many families look forward to every year.

The celebration continues through 9 p.m.
