A Williamsburg restaurant is giving people a taste of Mexico in the borough.
De Mole is named after the restaurant’s signature dish.
"The name of the restaurant is De Mole. And the name actually came out of because we make mole in the restaurant like the traditional way,” says executive chef Jose Flores.

Flores says the traditional Mexican sauce is about a three-day process, using over 20 ingredients.

"Heating up our mole sauce, different ingredients, sweet plantain, raisins, almonds, chocolate, that gives it like a sweetness. We cook everything together and just blend it,” says Flores.

The restaurant in Williamsburg is the newest location for Flores and his family, who opened their first one in Queens nearly 15 years ago.

"We all grew up in the kitchen. We have a very long background, and, actually, in the house we learn how to cook. So, the restaurant is kind of like our life and we decide to open up a second place just to keep expanding a little bit. To give the guests and customers what we are the type of food that we make,” says Flores.
