Rasheed Boland faced a judge Monday in the 2017 fatal shooting of a 20-year-old college student.
Boland is accused of killing 20-year-old Justin Hackley. He was arrested in Texas in July. News 12 has learned that Boland was living under the alias Omar Johnson and has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges.
Investigators say Hackley was killed in the late evening of July 11, 2017 in Flatbush along Ocean Avenue. Hackley was shot in the neck and chest. For two years, local and federal authorities searched for Boland, who was finally caught after authorities received a tip.
The courtroom was filled with friends and family, including Hackley's mother. Boland is being held without bail and will go before a judge on Nov.1.
Authorities are still searching for Boland's brother, Dean. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.
