Police say a man has been arrested in connection to the attack of a 71-year-old woman in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

Jaquan Whittel, 27, is facing charges of assault and injuring a victim 65 years or older.

Joan Baptiste, a mother of three and a grandmother, says she was walking home from her job at a day care on Sept. 19 when the attack occurred.
The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. along New York Avenue. She says she doesn't remember being hit.

"I heard somebody say, 'We have to call 911,'" Baptiste told News 12.

At the time, she was bleeding from the mouth and later learned that her jaw was broken.
