A hacked electronic sign along the road in Prospect Heights grabbed the attention of many in the neighborhood on Monday.
"Stop Driving. Get rid of your car. Use the Bus. Subway. Or Bike," were just some of the messages posted on the sign along Vanderbilt and Sterling Avenue.
Other messages included "Cars Melt Glaciers. Cars Ruin Cities. Cars Kill Kids."
The sign isn't displaying those messages anymore, but many feel the hacker is trying to bring awareness to some of the downsides of having cars in Brooklyn.
Some say this has happened before and that they have seen similar messages on other signs in the borough.
The New York City Department Of Transportation tells News 12 that the signs do not belong to them and that they have been reprogrammed.
