NYPD: Woman raped after asking man for directions in Manhattan

Police are on the hunt for a man accused of raping a 31-year-old woman in Manhattan.

According to investigators, the victim was heading to Queens and asked the man for help near West 51st Street between 8th and 9th avenues on Sunday before 1 a.m.

Police say when she asked the man for assistance he walked with her and then attacked and raped her.

News 12 is told the man ran away toward Broadway at 52nd Street.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but is expected to be OK.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
