Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for a suspect who set fire on the steps outside Park Slope Jewish Center Wednesday morning.

Police say the arson happened at 1320 Eighth Ave. around 1 a.m.

In a criminal mischief complaint, authorities say a backpack was put on the steps outside the center and set on fire. Luckily, no damages or injuries were reported.

Police are searching for the person responsible and have notified the Hate Crimes Unit.

This all comes as the Jewish community is observing the high holy day of Yom Kippur.
