Ocasio-Cortez backs Bernie Sanders at rally in Queens

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed support for who she thinks should be the next president of the United States as she attended a Bernie Sanders rally in Queens Saturday.
At the rally, which saw at least 20,000 people, the congresswoman touted Sanders’ record and consistency in promoting progressive policies.
"I'm proud to say that the only reason that I had hope in launching a long-shot campaign for Congress is because Bernie Sanders proved that you can run a grassroots campaign and win in an America where we almost thought it was impossible,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
The rally was titled "Bernie's Back,” referencing the presidential candidate who is back on the campaign trail after suffering a heart attack in early October.
The senator spoke highly of Ocasio-Cortez, saying she has been a defender of the working class and a leader in the fight against gentrification and for affordable housing.
Ocasio-Cortez was a Bernie Sanders supporter and a volunteer for his 2016 campaign.
