Police: Bronx man accused of injuring twin infants in New Jersey

Police say a Bronx man was arrested in New Jersey in connection to the assault of twin infants Friday.
Jonathan Melendez, 27, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say the infants were brought to Hackensack University Medical Center by their mother after one of them was unresponsive.
Officials say both infants were found to have multiple fractures and head trauma, and police determined the infants had been in the custody of Melendez, their father, at the time.
He was arrested at the hospital and is currently being held at the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance, which is scheduled for today.
