2 men impersonate NYPD officers in Canarsie, threaten woman

Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for two men who pretended to be NYPD officers in Canarsie.

On Nov. 4, two men approached a 30-year-old woman as she walked out of a store at the shopping center on Flatlands Avenue between East 107th Street and East 108th Street. They then told the woman she had to pay them $1,000 a week or there would be a warrant issued for her arrest. This was all caught on surveillance video from the NYPD.

Police say the woman asked to see their shields but they refused, so she started recording them and they ran off.

If you have any information about the incident, police are asking you to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
