People from all over the borough came together on Tuesday to get ready for Thanksgiving.
More than 700 donated turkeys went to families in need just in time for the holiday. The turkeys were handed out by Catholic Charities and were donated by Alphonse and Maria Catanese, in memory of their parents who started the tradition.
People who walked away with Thanksgiving items tell News 12 they're extremely grateful.
Marie Smith is making dinner for 15 next week and she tells News 12 she's looking forward to getting the whole family together for a beautiful and delicious meal.
Smith tells News 12 it's not just the food that she appreciates, but it's the entire experience. Now that she's got her turkey and all the fixings, she is excited to get home and get cooking.
