Brooklyn residents spent Sunday getting ready for the wintry mix that is expected into Monday afternoon's commute.
Local hardware stores have stocked up with must-have winter items ahead of the anticipated snowfall. Residents have been buying everything from shovels to bags of salt.
"It's really important to come out and get your salt because you don't want anyone to slip on your sidewalk or driveway," said Bobby Mclen. "You don't want anyone to get hurt."
New York City Emergency Management issued a travel advisory stating that New Yorkers are advised to use mass transit and exercise caution when driving, walking or biking and allow for additional travel time as roads may be slippery.
For anyone traveling this evening and Monday, make sure to wear winter essentials like a hat, scarf and gloves to stay warm and dry.
