A fire began in a dance studio on Avenue L in Canarsie early this morning.

Phone calls to police about the fire started coming in around 4:30 a.m. this morning.

Firefighters were met by smoke when they arrived and quickly got to work trying to make their way into the building.

To make sure the fire did not spread, firefighters were working to open the doors of the church on the corner of Avenue L and East 94th Street next to the dance studio.

As of right now, no injuries have been reported but there is extensive damage to the dance studio.
