Family: Bronx man is fighting for his life in cold living conditions

One Bronx man is fighting to see his 84th birthday in what his family says are cold living conditions.
Felix Santana is grateful for his father, Victor, who has so far defied the odds. Victor Santana was given six months to live last December, but he's still chugging along.
"He's always been that way and has always given everything he has for us, and so now, we're trying to do the same thing but -- we can do as much as we can," said Felix Santana.
Victor Santana is bedridden, and he bundles up under several blankets because of what his family says is a constant lack of adequate heat.
"We're afraid that if he gets sick on top of his problem, he may just not make it out," said Felix Santana.
The family says they have had no choice but to put space heaters on in his home to keep him warm. They say they've been calling on NYCHA's help since the beginning of last month.
NYCHA tells News 12 that it has tested the temperature in the apartment before. They say the latest reading was 71 degrees, and that they also tested the other apartments in the building. NYCHA says they're all within acceptable temperature range.
Other tenants say they have also resorted to fire safety hazards to keep warm.
The family says they hope things will change before the temperature drops again on Wednesday.
