Authorities raid Mott Haven drug packaging mill; 7 indicted

Seven people were indicted Thursday for allegedly operating a drug packaging mill in a Mott Haven apartment.
A search warrant was being executed at the Willis Avenue apartment on Nov. 7. Prosecutors told News 12 that one of the defendants threw loose fentanyl at one of the officer's heads, causing it to fill the air.
This sent four officers to the hospital that night for fentanyl symptoms. Investigators say six people were in the living room with suspected heroin and fentanyl packaged into 20,000 individual glassine envelopes.
They also say there were more drugs in loose powder form. The building is directly across the street from an elementary school.
Four of the seven defendants are from the Bronx. Their names are Francisco Payano, Mario Gerrero, Jose Gonzalez, and Margaret Payano.
They are being charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. They are also being charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Christian Rojas, from Brooklyn, is one of the seven suspects prosecutors say threw the fentanyl at the officer. They say he has additional charges of aggravated assault upon a police officer, assault and reckless endangerment.
