Top city officials met with leaders from the Williamsburg Jewish community Thursday in response to the horrific attack in Jersey City.

Officials tried to offer comfort and committed themselves to crack down acts of anti-Semitism in the city.

When asked how they would do that other than through words, Mayor Bill de Blasio pointed to a heightened police presence in Jewish communities. He also pointed to a new unit the city is launching dedicated to fighting all racially or ethnically motivated extremism.

Even then, officials say they'll need others to step up to the plate.

De Blasio also said that in the coming days he plans on gathering faith and community leaders from all backgrounds to join together in unity.
