Police are warning residents to keep track of their deliveries and beware of porch pirates.
Officials say two men have hit several homes across the borough, stealing hundreds of dollars worth of packages.
The most recent one, captured on a Ring camera, happened Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. near Clinton Place and Grand Avenue in University Heights.
The man is seen walking up to the front porch and snatching a package. The homeowner tells News 12 the thief actually took her nephew's Christmas present, which was worth about $72.
News 12 is told another man was caught on camera wearing a bright yellow and orange security vest while going around and stealing packages.
The surveillance video captured from a Ring camera shows the suspect walking right up to a front door. He looks around and seconds later he opens the front door and bends down.
That’s when police say he snatched a package with $300-worth of goods in it. News 12 told this happened near Seminole Avenue and Pawnee Place back on Nov. 27 around 4 p.m.
Officials then say that same man also struck again in Throgs Neck on Nov. 30 along Hutchinson River Parkway North. A camera was rolling as he walked up to the stairs in the same bright yellow and orange security vest, taking a package from the front porch. The family tells News 12 the box had about $90-worth of vitamins in it.
The NYPD is warning people to be extra careful during the holidays. They advise to always trip shipments online and choose a delivery option that requires a signature. They also say to schedule packages to arrive when there is someone home or when a friend or neighbor can accept the package on your behalf.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
