“The Nutcracker” with a Brooklyn twist is coming to the borough.
“The Brooklyn Nutcracker” will present two performances at the Kings Theatre on Saturday.
The production incorporates the people and cultural history of the borough.

"It is basically a love letter to Brooklyn. It starts in the old Dutch Brooklyn in period costumes. Some of our dancers that do the special dances in the nutcracker like the Spanish dance the Chinese dance these are done by traditional Chinese dancers,” says choreographer Lynn Parkerson. “So the second act of the Nutcracker we are basically traveling up Flatbush Avenue visiting different neighborhoods."

In addition to the classic jumps and turns, the choreographer promises this Nutcracker production will be more diverse than ever before.

"Rather than have a ballet-based Arabian dance we have authentic Middle Eastern dance," says Parkerson. "It’s a real metaphor for me for the vision of the future."
