The New Jersey Ballet and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra are partnering up for a holiday classic at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
"The Nutcracker" has become an annual tradition for the ballet and orchestra. Some performers like dancer Gabriella Noa have been part of the performance almost continuously for nearly 30 years.

"It's magical," Noa says.

The Christmas classic is about a girl who receives a nutcracker in the shape of a toy soldier and then falls asleep and dreams that the nutcracker becomes a prince.

Dancers hope their performance will give people an opportunity to forget about their troubles.

"Even though the holidays can be really stressful for everyone -- I feel like this is like two hours where you can sit down and enjoy a show," says dancer Kaitlyn Dalbon. "And it's very uplifting."

"The Nutcracker" is being performed through Dec. 27.
