Prospect Park was taken over with 5,000 festive runners Saturday for a 5K that raises money to make sure students stay active and healthy.
The proceeds of the 32nd annual Jingle Bell Jog go to the New York Road Runners free year-round programs that serve 250,000 students around the U.S.
Half of those students live in New York City, and 1,000 of them raced in the youth run. Some of the students wore Santa and elf hats while running the mile.
Sen. Chuck Schumer waited at the finish line for racers.
