A massive bar crawl Thursday marked the start of Kwanzaa.

It is the fourth year that the Kwanzaa Crawl has swept through Brooklyn. Thousands showed out to celebrate bar to bar.

Kwanzaa is a seven-night festival that celebrates African cultural heritage and traditional values. The bar crawl takes groups of Kwanzaa crawlers to a handful of the 35 participating black-owned bars throughout Brooklyn and Harlem.

It was founded back in 2016 by two sisters to bring together people of African descent and to support black-owned businesses. They say the crawl generated $250,000 during the one-day event last year.

The crawl continues to grow, with 1,600 participants in year one to now 5,000 participants this year.

Kwanzaa goes on for the next week. If you didn't get the chance to celebrate today, you still have until Jan. 1.
