Brooklyn newborn is the first NYC baby born in the new decade

Posted: Updated:

Aiden Zobnin was the first Brooklyn baby to be born this decade, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

Zobnin was born at the stroke of midnight. He shares the title of first baby born in New York City with another child born at midnight in Staten Island.

Trailing just 16 minutes behind in Brooklyn, baby Diallo was an unexpected birthday gift to his father, who was also born on Jan. 1. She entered the world at 7 pounds, 1 ½ ounces.

Nurses on the delivery floor say welcoming newborns on the first of the year is always an exciting part of the job.
