FDNY: 18 sent to hospital in 'hazmat incident' at mental health services center

Over a dozen people who lived inside a home that offers mental health services were sent to the hospital Friday night.
News 12 is told there may have been high levels of carbon monoxide at the Herbert G. Birch Community Services Center on 594 East 53rd St.
The center provides mental health services, including a residential program for people who need special care.
News 12 did reach out to Con Edison and National Grid, which say the companies were not involved.
All 18 people who were hospitalized are expected to recover.
