One person is dead after a massive fire Monday inside of an apartment building in Fort Greene -- now police are investigating whether the man was dead before the fire even began.
Fire officials say the flames broke out at the building on Adelphi Street just before 3:30 a.m.
Firefighters responding to the scene found a man face down in the lobby of the building with puncture wounds to the neck and body.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The discovery came after firefighters battled the blaze for nearly an hour.
There is no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Neighbors tell News 12 the individual was well-known on the block and will be sorely missed.
