Police: Man wanted for robbing 12-year-old of cellphone in Sheepshead Bay

Posted: Updated:

Police are on the hunt for the man they believe robbed a child in Sheepshead Bay last month.

Investigators say it happened on Jan. 25 in an alley behind 2076 Coyle St.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the suspect walking down the street, quickly approaching the 12-year-old boy. He is apparently then seen pushing the boy up against a fence.

Police say he took the boy’s cellphone and forced him to unlock it with a password before running away. He was last seen headed southbound on Coyle Street.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches and around 150 pounds.

Officials say the 12-year-old boy was not hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
