Car crashes into Walgreens in Flatlands

A car crashed through the front of a Walgreens in Flatlands Monday, leaving a path of destruction.
It happened just before 3 p.m.
News 12 was told that the driver refused medical attention, and no one on the sidewalk or in the store was hurt in the crash.

A representative on the scene from Walgreens tells News 12 he wasn't there for the crash, but that he saw the driver in his car after the accident happened.

He says the driver said he was trying to back up when another car was coming through the parking lot. He tried to slam on his brakes, but hit the gas by mistake.  It sent him flying through the front door and into the store.

The Department of Buildings was at the store doing a structural analysis of the building to see how it can open up safely as soon as possible.
The Walgreens rep said someone will board up the front of the building and hopefully build a temporary entrance as they plan to reopen Tuesday.
