A group of dedicated dogs and owners brave cold winters mornings to compete in a frisbee league in Prospect Park.
The dog owners say it’s all about the love of the game.
"She's not much of a jumper, but she's you know she runs fast, she's pretty good at tracking the frisbee," says Brooklyn Disc Dogs founder Navin Sivakumar.

Sivakumar says he has always loved playing frisbee with his dog, but was looking for something more organized.

"We're very friendly, we're very supportive, we're very beginner friendly," says Sivakumar.

He found the K9 Toss and Fetch league that competes with local clubs all over the world and in the fall of 2018 started the Brooklyn Disc Dogs.

"I hate waking up in the morning, I hate the cold weather, but to see how happy my dog is doing it, I mean it's worth it," says Sivakumar.

The dogs however, appear un-phased by the 8 a.m. mid-week game time in Prospect Park.

Each team has one minute to earn as many points as possible, the longer the catch the more points are tallied up to five points for the longest throws over 40 yards.

These dogs aren't just competing against each other. There's a world championship where competitions happen around the globe on the same day and scores are tallied against each other.

Sivakumar says these dogs won't be competing for a world title this year, but they are loving playing in the park.

"It's a letdown to go to work after. The best part of my day is over sometimes," says Sivakumar.

Dogs and owners looking to join this group can sign up for the spring league starting in April.
