Neighbors in Williamsburg say a Citi Bike rack is causing issues, and that it is also dangerous for bikers.

"Why would you put people in harm's way and have them backing out into ongoing traffic?" said Community Board 1 District Manager Gerald Esposito. He says this is a question he has for the Department of Transportation about the corner of Graham Avenue and Conselyea Street.

"People are getting injured in this street. Move it onto the sidewalk," said Esposito. News 12 is told the bike rack was moved to the location in 2015 during L train construction.

The community board says it's supposed to be temporary with a final destination around the corner.

"Bicycles are going to be used more and more in the city than we have to provide the safety that goes along with that," said Esposito.

Esposito says there have been a handful of bike accidents, and that it has also taken away street parking and created a trash problem.

If the bikes can't move to another street, neighbors say they would prefer if the bikes were on the sidewalk because they just want them out of the street.

Esposito says that right now the DOT told them they have no plans to relocate the station.

The community board says their next move is to get these bikes relocated, and to contact the mayor's office.

News 12 reached out to the DOT and has not heard back yet.
