Coronavirus special: Medical experts tackle questions on COVID-19

News 12 had two infectious disease specialists address COVID-19 questions and concerns live on-air Thursday night.
Dr. Michael Augenbraun, director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and Dr. Inessa Gendlina, director of Infectious Disease and Infection Control at Montefiore Health System, spent the hour addressing concerns.

One of the many questions included whether people should be wearing masks to protect them. Augenbraun says masks are for preventing people from giving other people germs, rather than to prevent people from getting germs, so he doesn't advise it at the moment.
A point that both doctors made after the show is that washing your hands with soap and or the use of hand sanitizer frequently each day is the best way to stay healthy.
However, they say to make sure to rinse up for 20 seconds.
The doctors admitted that there is still a lot to learn about COVID-19. They said the New York medical community is working very hard to stay on top of the latest developments and updates to help stop the spread of the virus.
