Downtown Brooklyn street co-named after Ida B. Wells

A street in Downtown Brooklyn has been co-named after a civil rights activist.
A plaque was unveiled Saturday in Ida B. Wells' honor.
Wells lived in Downtown Brooklyn from 1862 to 1931. She was an investigative journalist and during her time in Brooklyn, Wells published editorials exposing lynching in the United States.
Wells was also a founding member of the National Association of Colored Women as well as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Her great-grandson was at Saturday's ceremony.
