A man was indicted Thursday in the 1980 murder of Lorraine Snell.

Snell was found stabbed to death nearly 40 years ago. James Burrus, a relative via marriage, was arrested Thursday morning and arraigned at Brooklyn Supreme Court.

Burrus is being charged with second-degree murder. According to the district attorney's office, a re-investigation into the case showed a DNA match with Burrus. Burrus was married to the cousin of Snell at the time of the murder.

The 19-year-old was found on the floor of a station wagon behind a C-Town grocery store on Nostrand Avenue, where she is said to have worked at one time.

"My daughter was missing, I knew it was him. And, I said it. I never trusted him. And, I feel you know from day one he was the one," says Lorraine Snell's mother, Pearl Snell-Holder.

Burrus is being held without bail and is due back in court on March 25. If convicted, Burrus could serve up to 25 years in prison.
