Food workers currently serving thousands of meals to students across the city say they are concerned about working without masks.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and the Education Union gave out masks to food workers currently serving meals to students P.S. 307.
"As soon as you are determined to be an essential employee, you need to get the essential tools to carry out your job," said Adams.
Shaun Francois, union president of Local 372, says he asked the Department of Education to supply masks but was told that the masks are on back order. That is when they decided to order a supply to distribute.
"It is a limited supply. We were only able to get a little bit, but we're going to try to get more as they come in. We're going to continue to get them and distribute to all our members in the five boroughs," said Francois.
