Mayor: NYC should be ready for shutdown through May

As New York remains the epicenter for coronavirus cases in the United States, Mayor Bill de Blasio is telling residents to prepare for a shutdown until May.
The mayor told “Good Morning America” on Friday that “we have to be ready” for a possible shutdown through May.
As of Thursday, New York state had nearly 39,000 confirmed cases and at least 466 people have died. Over 23,000 cases have been reported in New York City alone.
The Mayor’s Office said as of Thursday the death toll was at least 365.

Mayor de Blasio says he believes that half of New York City residents will be infected with COVID-19 during the pandemic.
Currently, New York state has about half of all coronavirus cases in the Unites States.
