Fire and transit officials say 6 train service in the Bronx is temporarily suspended in both directions north of Hunts Point Avenue because of a minor derailment involving one axle on a train.
They say passengers were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the incident was not immediately clear.
Sally Librera, NYC Transit Senior VP, Department of Subways released a statement saying," At approximately 3:04 p.m. the emergency brakes were automatically activated on a southbound 6 train north of the Parkchester station in the Bronx. The train operator and a supervisor inspected the outside of the train and discovered one axle/two wheels had left the track. We are investigating the root cause of this minor derailment. There are no reported injuries, everyone is safe and all customers have been transferred to another train. The latest service changes are available on mta.info."
