NYC Dept. of Health reports influx in disinfectant ingestion following President Trump's comments

The city's Department of Health reported an influx in cases pertaining to exposure to Lysol, bleach and other household cleaning products following President Donald Trump's comments.
The Poison Control Center says it managed nine cases specifically regarding exposure to Lysol, 10 cases involving bleach and 11 cases about other household cleaners in a span of 18 hours.
The Department of Health says in the same 18-hour span last year, the numbers were about half as much with no poison control cases specifically regarding exposure to Lysol.
Trump speculated during a press conference Thursday about injecting an unspecified disinfectant into the body to combat COVID-19, then later claimed his comment was sarcastic.
The City's Health Commissioner tweeted, "To be clear, disinfectants are not intended for ingestion, either by mouth, by ears, by breathing them in any way, shape or form. And doing so can put people at great risk."
News 12 is told none of the poison control cases involving cleaners or disinfectants, following Trump's comments, resulted in hospitalization or death.
