Martial arts school trying to prevent closure due to crisis

A martial arts school with a decades-old history in the Bronx is doing all that it can to keep from closing because of the coronavirus pandemic.
News 12 was present when Martial Way Kung-Fu Training Center’s owner Christopher Robinson marked the occasion by reopening the newly renovated facility last October.
Now, the space is empty. Instead of hosting Kung Fu classes, after-school programs, and even fun events for parents, the staple was forced to close its doors back in March because of COVID-19.
They have now moved to virtual lessons.
“We applied for the EIDL and the PPP and those things are still in the pipeline. We're still waiting to see what we're going to receive from that,” said Robinson.

Robinson estimates that since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, he's lost about 90% of his members. Leaving him to rely on the community to keep the studio afloat month to month.
“I was using this as a last resort, but we started a Go Fund Me Page... hopefully we can get through May, but then we still have to think about June and July, and so it's gonna be a tough ride for certain,” said Robinson.
He is holding out hope that the facility can still hold its popular summer camp, either in person or online.
