The sound of an engine revving is not something you’d expect to hear on a quiet residential block. However, Bay Ridge residents say it has become more noticeable now that less people are on the road.
City Councilmember Justin Brannan says he wants things to change before someone gets hurt.
“Someone is going to get killed, whether it’s one of the drivers or someone walking on the street,” said Brannan.
The Department of Transportation says they have no immediate plan to reevaluate the area, but Councilmember Brannan says that wouldn’t make a difference. He says he hopes the community can help report what they see.
“We need the community to be partners in keeping our neighborhoods safe,” said Brannan.
