'It's hard to sleep': Hundreds of complaints related to fireworks reported to NYC

Residents are frustrated with the amount of noise caused by fireworks in the city recently.
Even though Independence Day is still more than two weeks away, city data shows a dramatic spike in fireworks complaints during the first few weeks of the month.
A total of 867 complaints were made to 311 in Brooklyn. In the Bronx, there were 244 complaints. Both numbers show a big increase from last year.
"It's annoying sometimes," one resident says. "It's hard to sleep--my dog gets really scared."
Fireworks have also proven to be dangerous. An 18-year-old and another man were both injured after suffering from fireworks-related injuries early Wednesday.
Firecrackers are illegal in New York City.
