Dad pleads guilty in hot car deaths of 1-year-old twins: Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark says a Rockland County father has pleaded guilty in the hot car deaths of his 1-year-old twins. Juan Rodriguez, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless endangerment in their 2019 deaths. The New City man was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge.

Communities across Long Island see explosion in use of illegal fireworks: Communities across Long Island and the U.S. are seeing an explosion in the use of illegal fireworks. Videos of fireworks have been flooding social media in recent days. Frank Messano, from Stewart Manor, says illegal fireworks are a nightly thing. Viewers have reached out to News 12 over fireworks concerns across Nassau and Suffolk, including in Bethpage, Wantagh, Huntington, Lindenhurst, Seaford, Middle Island and South Setauket.

2 women rescue emaciated dog wandering streets of Brooklyn: An emaciated dog is expected to recover after two women rescued and saved his life. The nonprofit Animal Haven says two women brought the 4-year-old dog in a grocery cart after finding him under the Manhattan Bridge on the Manhattan side. They say the women just started walking searching for help and came upon the Centre Street office. The Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital is now taking care of Timmie, who they describe as curious and energetic--a far cry from his state last Thursday.

Trumbull Amazon distribution center preparing for summer opening: Trumbull says its new 114,000-square-foot Amazon distribution center will open up later this summer. Workers were seen Tuesday at the Route 25 distribution center making preparations for the opening in the coming months. Amazon purchased the building in January for $7.5 million and says it will put $11 million in to getting it ready. The Town of Trumbull says the center will bring about 150 jobs to the area.

Prosecutor's office: 2 charged with vandalizing police cars in Newark protests: The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says two men have been charged with vandalizing police vehicles during recent protests in Newark. The prosecutor's office announced charges Tuesday against Eric Stone, 29, of New York, and Julio Rodriguez, 27, of New Brunswick.
