The coronavirus pandemic has forced students and teachers alike to approach education in a whole new way.
The doors at All Hallows High School have been closed for more than three weeks now, and as students stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, principal Susan Natale says education is still going strong.
"We're not closed. We never close. We're open for online learning,” says Natale.
The online learning began on March 16, and Natale says the transition was seamless. Students log on to Google Hangouts by 8:46 a.m., have three to four classes, and their homework is due by midnight. The principal says despite being home, students are still required to wear their dressed down uniforms.
"We've tried to keep rules and regulations as best we can because normal is what's keeping them going,” says Natale. “They get their teachers in front of them every single day, talking to them."
Freshman, sophomore and junior classes were all issued their own Chromebook laptops when they started at All Hallows. The staff worked to make sure the seniors had what they needed as well.

Natale says prom is probably not happening, and graduation on June 6 is not confirmed.
"I said to them, 'I don't know what graduation looks like, but I can promise you, you will have something when it's safe for us to be back,’” says Natale. "It's really tough because you want to make sure you're doing right for them. I had my time as a senior. I want them to have theirs."
