Stuyvesant Heights community mourns civil rights activist and pastor

? Hundreds of Brooklyn residents and religious leaders from around the world gathered in Stuyvesant Heights to say goodbye to reverend and civil rights activist William A. Jones at his funeral Friday.
Jones, 71, died from kidney ailment complications. He was a military veteran and the first chairman of the New York chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The pastor also spent time on many protest lines fighting for racial equality.
Jones retired as pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Stuyvesant Heights last year after 43 years of service. He will be buried in his birthplace of Lexington, Kentucky.
