News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Darryl Green says and air quality alert is in effect for New York City through Thursday. Showers will subside until Saturday.
Health officials have warned of potential air quality concerns outside of New York City. New York City is currently projecting moderate air quality for Wednesday. There is a rip current statement issued for ocean-facing beaches as a south wind increases the threat for rip currents through today and tomorrow.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and muggy. Lows near 66.
TOMORROW: More sunshine and no rain expected, but it'll be a hazy sunshine because of a reinforcing shot of some wildfire smoke. Nowhere near as bad as the start of the month but reduced air quality expected. Highs around 83. Lows down to 69.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny. Humid. A bit of lingering haze/smoke possible. Highs up to 85. Lows around 70.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and storms, especially during the afternoon. Highs drop to near 80. Lows around 69.
SUNDAY: A few more showers possible during the midday and evening. Highs near 79. Lows around 68.
MONDAY - TUESDAY: An improving forecast. More sunshine and highs in the mid-80s. Lows near 70.
