Police are searching for a suspect wanted in the brutal beating of an Ecuadorian immigrant in Bushwick Sunday.
Police say the incident occurred when Jose Sukuzhanay and his brother were walking arm-in-arm on their way home from a bar.
According to authorities, the brothers were stopped by a man who yelled anti-Hispanic and anti-gay slurs at them before hitting Sukuzhanay with a beer bottle. The attacker than delivered a blow to the victim?s head with an aluminum baseball bat, leaving him brain-dead.
Members of the Ecuadorian consulate are working with the victim?s family in their native country to provide them with visas so they can visit their son in the hospital and decide whether or not to take him off life support.
The attacker is described as a man between 18 and 20 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build. Police are offering a $22,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
