A scary scene unfolded Monday night as a high school basketball game was interrupted by gunshots.
Police say two people got into an argument during the game between Savior Lutheran and Putnam Science Academy that escalated, leading one person to shoot into the air.
News 12 Sports reporter Greg Thompson was at the gym when the shots broke out and got an exclusive video from the scene.
Thompson says hundreds went running for their lives amid the chaotic scene. He says when the first shot went off, he and other witnesses said it sounded like something in the gym broke, but then after a short delay, multiple shots were fired back-to-back.
No injuries were reported.
Guacho's Program Director Earl Eliote released a statement Monday night saying "Unfortunately, during a boys high school basketball game today, during a celebration for MLK, one of the most iconic peacemakers in history, a reckless spectator decided to shoot off a gun in the crowded gym during the game. The police were quick to respond and intelligent adults were able to calm the crowd and have people exit without further mayhem. As we strive to support our young people and the community around us, we will not let this situation darken our bright star that has shined here for the past 53 years."
The staff at the gym is asking anyone with information to reach out to the NYPD's 40th Precinct. For now, the gym's youth basketball programs are continuing as scheduled.
